Dinner and a Movie

I am on demand 24/7. I don’t mind, as a matter of fact I love it. It can however, get a bit overwhelming, leaving you feeling drained and unmotivated. People can get overlooked a bit. It has to be a conscience decision to make time for everyone...including and most importantly, my husband and our relationship.
I usually look forward to date nights out but after a full day going out can seem like another chore. Being Tuesday, it was our date night and I was in no mood to go out but I didn't want to neglect our time together. So I called my husband asking what the plan was, all the while hinting that I wasn't really up for a night out. He suggested dinner in and a Redbox.
I love that he acknowledges and respects when my day has been full.
He picked up some dinner on the way home along with 2 movies (chick flick & action). When he arrived, he informed the kids that our date night was still on and they should act like we were out for the night. He then brought everything up to the bedroom and locked the door. We spread out a sheet over the bed (no crumbs!) and enjoyed our movies and meal together.
We watched his movie first and then the chick flick last. I have learned that this is strategic. Ending the date night movie selection in my favor actually secures it will end the night in his (our) favor.
Have you enjoyed an evening in recently?
